The “Hapikan Dashboard,” a dashboard for Marugame Seimen stores jointly developed by Toridoll Holdings and PLAID, has won the 2026 Good Design Award. The dashboard consolidates on a single screen a “Happiness Score,” which indicates employee wellbeing; an “Emotion Score,” which measures customers’ emotions after their dining experience; and a “Store Performance Score,” which indicates store performance. It uses a design intended to connect the experiences of employees and customers.
PLAID ALPHA handled the experience design and UI/UX development to encourage intrinsic motivation, as well as data integration and feature development, on an end-to-end basis. In addition to visualising the Happiness Score and Emotion Score using 3D motifs, the dashboard includes an AI agent that suggests daily actions and encourages users to recognise colleagues’ contributions.
Approximately 10 months after the system went into operation, more than 90% of the approximately 900 stores nationwide continue to use it. Mechanisms for sharing and using customer feedback at stores are being developed, along with data integration and feature enhancements supporting the Hapikan store performance cycle. New features, including the Marugame Fan Score and a repeat-customer dashboard, are also being implemented in stages.
