Nitto Kogyo's cabinet manufacturing DX service, "Smart Order Cabinet," has won the 2026 Good Design Award. It achieves short lead times for custom cabinets through intuitive online customization and integration with automated manufacturing lines.
Nitto Kogyo announced that its cabinet manufacturing DX service, "Smart Order Cabinet," has won the 2026 Good Design Award, which was open for public nominations. On the dedicated Cabista website, users can intuitively specify dimensions, hole processing, color changes, reverse-opening doors and the addition of heat-management components. The resulting data is sent directly to automated manufacturing lines at Nitto Kogyo's own plants.
This system significantly reduces conventional tasks such as creating CAD drawings and performing manual processing on site, streamlining the process from design through installation. As a result, the company says it achieves lead times comparable to standard products even for one-off custom cabinets. Against a backdrop of rising demand for distribution boards and control panels and labor shortages, the company aims to improve efficiency across the entire order-to-manufacturing value chain.
The judges praised the intuitive UI design, the ability to check delivery times and prices immediately, and the automatic transfer of order data to manufacturing lines. The service was highly rated for reducing the complexity involved in ordering custom cabinets, lowering the burden on customers, and enabling manufacturing and shipment on short lead times.
