Taisei Corporation announced that it has developed a system that automatically generates robot-specific maps from 2D and 3D drawing data. The system is called AutoRoboMapSystem (A.R.M.S, Arms) and is intended to accelerate the introduction of robots at construction sites.
Taisei Corporation has developed a system that creates drawings automatically showing areas and routes that robots can travel based on construction drawing data, and disclosed that it has filed a patent application. The system was jointly developed with サン・エンジニアリング of Kobe, and is scheduled to be integrated into the operating processes for the company’s construction-support robots.
The new system generates robot-specific drawings with a few clicks, significantly reducing the work involved in producing finished drawings. Previously, this required removing unnecessary text, symbols and dimension lines from the drawings.
As labour shortages caused by population decline become more severe and the use of robots at construction sites advances, demand is rising for digital maps that allow robots to understand site structures. Taisei Corporation aims to integrate the system into its robot operations to accelerate deployment at construction sites and improve productivity.
