HORIBA's CCEVA CO2 adsorption/desorption evaluation instrument has been adopted by the Carbon Capture Technology Evaluation Center of the Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth (RITE), supporting the establishment of an evaluation platform using actual gases. The center is scheduled to begin full-scale operations in November 2026.
The CCEVA CO2 adsorption/desorption evaluation instrument developed by 堀場製作所 has been adopted by the Carbon Capture Technology Evaluation Center of the Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth. The center is Japan's first facility capable of evaluating CO2 separation materials using actual gases and is scheduled to begin full-scale operations in November 2026.
CCEVA can perform processes ranging from test-gas generation to gas analysis in a single unit, integrating adsorption/desorption testing with analysis of the gas after separation. Conditions such as CO2 concentration, temperature, pressure, and flow rate can be set flexibly, and gases containing moisture can also be supplied, enabling a diverse range of tests. The system also supports the standardization of long-duration endurance testing through automated operation, helping to obtain highly reproducible data.
Through the establishment of the Carbon Capture Technology Evaluation Center, RITE aims to accelerate the research and development and social implementation of CO2 separation and capture technologies. The introduction of CCEVA is expected to contribute to the standardization of evaluation platforms and the wider use of actual-gas evaluation, and attention is focused on future progress in technology evaluation.
