Apple announced the new Apple Watch Ultra 4. The company disclosed improved health-sensor accuracy, extended battery life, the S11 chip, and new features including watchOS 27, Siri AI and Audio Intelligence, and introduced the Readiness score and a new band configuration.
The new Apple Watch Ultra 4 features a health-sensing system with heart-rate sensor accuracy at the highest level in wearable history, as well as an Audio Intelligence feature due later this year. The S11 chip increases the frequency of heart-rate and HRV measurements and improves GPS accuracy. Integration with watchOS 27 and Siri AI is expected to enhance the watch's understanding of personal context and access to knowledge from the wrist.
Readiness indicates daily activity status on a score from 0 to 10 and displays actionable guidance ranging from rest to peak condition. It analyzes training load, sleep and vital-sign data to suggest how to spend the day. Extended workout mode and selectable GPS and heart-rate measurement frequencies can extend outdoor activity recording time to a maximum of 45 hours.
Battery life is said to exceed 2 days under normal use, reaching up to 50 hours, or 84 hours in Low Power Mode. A 15-minute charge provides up to 18 hours of use. In the extended mode for outdoor workouts, recording is possible for up to 25 hours, while the maximum mode allows up to 45 hours of recording with GPS measurements taken every second. The pedometer is more accurate with a new machine-learning algorithm and the S11 chip, and steps can be checked in real time through a watch-face complication.
