A delegation from the Japan Association for Promotion of International Trade, chaired by former Foreign Minister Iwaya Takuya (岩屋 毅), arrived in Beijing. It aims to meet with the Xi Jinping administration, improve Japan-China relations and facilitate economic exchanges.
A delegation from the Japan Association for Promotion of International Trade arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport in China on the 27th. Against the backdrop of current Japan-China relations, Iwaya Takuya (岩屋 毅) expressed his intention to seek an opening for improving relations through dialogue.
About 50 executives and others from Japanese companies are taking part in the delegation's visit to China, and it is seeking a meeting with the Xi Jinping administration. The organization aims to promote more advanced economic exchanges.
The visit was initially planned for June but was postponed following the death of former chairman and former Speaker of the House of Representatives Kōno Yōhei (河野 洋平). The schedule was set this time after being rearranged. During an earlier visit to China by a smaller group, the delegation held talks with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying. Iwaya Takuya (岩屋 毅) became the new chairman in July.
