Keiyo Gas opened a grid-scale battery storage facility in Isesaki, Gunma Prefecture, and will begin full-scale operations on 1 October 2026. This marks the company's first move into Japan's grid-scale battery storage business.
The business is being developed as part of the company's renewable energy-related operations under its Medium-Term Management Plan 2025-2027, with the aim of addressing electricity supply-demand balancing needs arising from the increased adoption of renewable energy. It follows the company's investment in and participation in a US grid-scale battery storage project announced in June 2025, and represents its entry into the Japanese market.
