Keiyo Gas opened a grid-scale battery storage facility in Isesaki, Gunma Prefecture, and began full-scale operations on 1 October 2026. KG BESS合同会社 operates the facility, which has 2 MW of output and 8 MWh of capacity.
In line with its medium-term management plan, Keiyo Gas installed a grid-scale battery storage facility in Isesaki, Gunma Prefecture, and began full-scale operations. The facility has 2 MW of output and 8 MWh of capacity and is located in Ueuekihoncho, Gunma Prefecture. It is operated by KG BESS合同会社, which was jointly established by Keiyo Gas Real Estate and Keiyo Gas.
The facility is expected to provide electricity supply and balancing capacity through the wholesale electricity, balancing and capacity markets. Marubeni新電力 has been commissioned to act as the aggregator for these transactions. The project aims to promote the use of renewable energy and help stabilise the power grid.
The project follows the company's announcement in June 2025 of its investment in and participation in a grid-scale battery storage project in the United States, and marks its entry into the battery storage business in Japan. Under the operating structure, KG BESS合同会社 manages the facility's output and capacity, while 株式会社サンヴィレッジ is responsible for its development and construction.
The Keiyo Gas Group has stated that through this battery storage business, it aims to help create a sustainable society and promote carbon neutrality.
