京葉瓦斯 opened a domestic grid-scale battery storage facility in Isesaki, Gunma Prefecture, and began full-scale operations on 1 October 2026. The facility has an output capacity of 2 MW and storage capacity of 8 MWh, and has begun operating as the company's first domestic grid-scale battery storage facility.
サンヴィレッジ handled the facility's development and construction, while KG BESS LLC operates it. KG BESS was established as a joint venture with 京葉瓦斯不動産, and has outsourced transactions to the aggregator 丸紅新電力.
The project is driven by the need to balance supply and demand as renewable energy adoption expands. The facility is expected to help stabilise the supply-demand balance. 京葉瓦斯 is also advancing its participation in grid-scale battery storage projects in the United States.
