An awareness-raising event co-hosted by the parenting media platform Tomonite and PIGEON CORPORATION will be held at Ario Kitasuna on 14 October 2026. The event will feature a talk session, a photo exhibition and a handprint wall to support premature babies and their families.
The event was planned ahead of World Prematurity Day on 15 November as a forum to deepen understanding of premature babies and their families and encourage support. Premature births in Japan are said to account for approximately 6% of all births, remaining broadly unchanged, meaning that around 1 in 20 babies is born prematurely. At the same time, life after discharge and the concerns faced by families are not considered to be sufficiently understood by society.
The event overview states that it will be held from 11:00 to 16:30 on 14 October 2026 at Ario Kitasuna, 1F Leaf Court, with Tomonite of every,Inc. and PIGEON CORPORATION as the organisers. JOIN and Akachan Honpo are among the supporting organisations. The event is intended for households raising children and families, with no advance registration required and free admission.
The event details include a talk session from 13:00 to 13:45 featuring 2 mothers who experienced premature birth and a paediatrician. After the talk, visitors will be able to create a handprint wall, with participants pressing their handprints onto a display themed around the purple colour of World Prematurity Day. A photo exhibition, “The Growth Journey of Babies Born Small and Their Families,” is also planned.
A range of other activities will be available, including a support-action corner and product giveaways by lottery. After the event, the organisers will announce the planned release of a childcare-recording feature and publish videos introducing the experiences of people who went through premature birth and breast-milk banks. Going forward, the organisers aim to promote the use of childcare records based on corrected age.
