At Google Cloud’s Agentic AI Summit ’26 Fall, NTT DATA’s Sone Yasukazu (曾根 康和) explained the 3 barriers to linking generative AI to business transformation and the concept of AWT (Agentic Workplace Transformation). He also introduced examples of applications in the financial and energy sectors.
At a Google Cloud event, Sone Yasukazu (曾根 康和), lead consultant in NTT DATA’s Technology Business Division, spoke about the perspectives needed to establish generative AI in the workplace and link it to organisational transformation. The presentation characterised tool deployment as the starting point, with subsequent utilisation and value creation being critical.
NTT DATA advocates “Agentic Workplace Transformation (AWT),” which advances business and organisational transformation through collaboration between people and AI agents. It identified 2 changes brought about by AWT: improved individual work efficiency, and the transformation of business processes across the organisation as AI agents use information across functions.
One example was a situation in which, when a sales representative prepares proposal materials, an AI agent searches past project information and makes cross-functional inquiries, supporting the preparation of a proposal outline. This allows sales staff to focus on supplementing information not known to the agent.
The 3 barriers to value creation at Japanese companies were identified as literacy, business application and execution. These were explained as issues rooted not only in tool functionality but also in corporate structures involving organisations and personnel, data and governance.
