オービックビジネスコンサルタント (OBC) proposes that advancing AI adoption in the back office requires a shift from "AI that is used" to "AI that runs operations." It introduces specific applications in accounting, human resources and labour management, as well as Bugyo AI Agent.
While generative AI has become widely used for everyday tasks such as information gathering and preparing meeting minutes, the use of AI in corporate back-office operations has yet to reach full scale. OBC reported that 56.8% of respondents to an AI forum survey said they were not using AI in back-office operations, while the proportion using it in some way was below 10%. There was broad recognition that advancing AI adoption would require determining which operations should use it.
OBC proposed an "AI-enabled operating model" that replaces selected tasks with AI without significantly changing workflows. The approach is to maintain current business processes while naturally integrating AI into everyday operations.
Specific use cases in accounting and human resources and labour management were presented. In accounting, these included an AI question function during journal-entry input, detection of duplicate journal entries and responses to queries about the invoice system, with the aim of reducing input errors and providing support. In human resources and labour management, AI would assist with attendance applications and, after learning the work rules, propose reasons for applications, helping prevent missed applications and reduce working time.
Bugyo AI Agent was also introduced as a service in which AI runs specialist operations such as those handled by the New Lease Accounting Identification Cloud and Consolidated Accounting Support Cloud. The envisaged applications include AI support for determining the applicability of contracts and preparing audit reports, as well as other highly specialised operations.
