Honda North America announced the new Civic Type R. It features a 315-ps turbo engine and a manual transmission only, with an MSRP of $48,695, and is scheduled to arrive at dealers from this month.
On 1 October, Honda’s North American subsidiary announced the new Civic Type R. The special model commemorates the 30th anniversary of the global model and its 10th anniversary in North America. It is powered by a turbocharged K20C engine producing 315 ps. It offers output in the highest class among mass-produced vehicles in the US market, and deliveries to local dealers are scheduled to begin this month.
The exterior adopts an aggressive front fascia, with a larger grille opening and a deep front splitter to improve engine cooling and downforce. Handling has been enhanced through optimized suspension damping in +R mode and improved rev matching, while a yoke spring has been added to the brake pedal to improve feel. Meteorite Gray Metallic has been added as a new body color.
The interior features standard heating for the front sport seats, red suede-like seats and a black-striped perforation design. The use of Ultrasuede interior materials, an aluminum shift knob, dark-gray trim, two USB-C ports and Google built-in makes Google Gemini, Maps and Play available.
Safety equipment has been enhanced through Honda Sensing, with the detection range of the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) expanded. ACC acceleration and deceleration control and LKAS stability have also been improved, and post-collision braking (PCB) is scheduled to become standard on all 2027 models.
