On 1 October, Honda's North American subsidiary announced the new Civic Type R. The model commemorates the 30th anniversary of its global launch and the 10th anniversary of its introduction in North America.
It is described as the only model equipped exclusively with a manual transmission. The U.S.-market version features a turbocharged K20C engine producing 315 ps, and its MSRP was announced at $48,695. Deliveries to local dealers are scheduled to begin this month.
The exterior improves engine cooling and downforce through features including an aggressive front fascia and enlarged grille openings. Suspension damping, rev matching and the brake pedal have also been improved.
Heated front seats are standard in the interior, which also features red suede-like seats, a new design, varied use of Ultrasuede and an aluminum shift knob. Google built-in, Google Gemini, Maps, Play and Alexa built-in are also included.
