In its second-quarter results announced on 6 November 2026, Ricoh reported operating profit of ¥73.4 billion for April–September, up 107.2% year on year, and revised its full-year operating profit forecast upward to ¥103.0 billion. It also announced a company split to transfer its thermal business, including thermal paper, to a newly established subsidiary.
Revenue for the cumulative April–September period was ¥1.2944 trillion, up 5.9% year on year, while operating profit was ¥73.4 billion, up 107.2%. Interim profit was ¥55.7 billion, up 126.9% from the previous period.
While the full-year revenue forecast was left unchanged at ¥2.7 trillion, the operating profit forecast was changed from ¥95.0 billion to ¥103.0 billion, an increase of ¥8.0 billion. The profit-before-tax forecast was revised to ¥103.0 billion, and profit attributable to owners of the parent to ¥69.5 billion.
As reasons for the revisions, the company cited operating profit exceeding expectations due to expense control during the interim period, recognition of refunds related to U.S. tariff measures and the impact of the weaker yen. From the third quarter onward, the company expects the impact of higher semiconductor memory prices to intensify and continued uncertainty in the European and U.S. markets, and has taken a cautious outlook.
As part of the company split to transfer the thermal business to a newly established subsidiary, Ricoh plans to establish リコーインダストリアルメディアソリューションズ株式会社. The business covered will include the development, manufacture and sale of thermal paper, thermal transfer ribbons and label-free thermal products. The split agreement is scheduled to be signed in March 2027, with the effective date scheduled for 1 July 2027.
