For usage of 260 kWh, the monthly bill is expected to rise by ¥1,578 to ¥10,752, mainly due to the revision of transmission charges.
Okinawa Electric Power announced that electricity bills for ordinary households using 260 kWh per month are expected to rise by ¥1,578 to ¥10,752 for bills issued in November 2026. This will be the first time the monthly bill has exceeded approximately ¥10,000.
The breakdown is an additional ¥910 resulting from the end of government rate support, ¥590 from the revision of transmission charges, which are fees for using power transmission and distribution facilities, and an expected ¥78 increase in the fuel cost adjustment amount.
Okinawa Electric Power explained that the revision of transmission charges is necessary because it is difficult to absorb through corporate efforts alone the impact of higher prices and labour costs, as well as increased interest payments due to rising interest rates.
