Okinawa Electric announced that it would raise electricity rates by approximately ¥1,500 from November usage. The estimated total monthly bill for a household using 260kWh is expected to exceed ¥10,000, with reduced subsidies, higher wheeling charges and the fuel cost adjustment identified as contributing factors.
Okinawa Electric announced that it would raise electricity rates by approximately ¥1,500 from November usage, with bills for typical households in Okinawa expected to exceed ¥10,000 for the first time.
The breakdown of the new rates is expected to include a ¥910 reduction in the government subsidy, a ¥590 increase in wheeling charges and an additional ¥78 in the fuel cost adjustment and other charges.
The increase is attributed to a situation in which rising costs, including higher prices, labor costs and interest rates, are difficult to absorb through corporate efforts alone. Okinawa Electric is seeking customers’ understanding of the increased burden.
