Hitachi Energy announced plans to build a new transformer plant in Mississippi. As part of its investment in the US under an agreement between the Japanese and US governments, the total investment is expected to reach $528 million (approximately ¥82 billion).
The new plant will be approximately twice the size of the existing plant in the area, and production capacity will be expanded to more than double its current level. More than 700 new jobs are expected to be created.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of this year, with production expected to start in 2029. Once completed, production will be changed from the existing plant to the new plant, while the existing plant is expected to be used as a warehouse and training facility.
