Japan Post Insurance has announced plans to step up investment in domestic unlisted equities (private equity), with a policy of increasing its balance by around ¥100 billion over the next several years. It believes these investments can generate higher risk-adjusted returns as an alternative asset.
Japan Post Insurance has disclosed plans to step up investment in domestic private equity (unlisted equities). As part of its investment policy going forward, it intends to increase its allocation to non-traditional assets.
Naoyuki Igarashi (五十嵐直之), head of the Alternative Investments Department, said the company is considering increasing its total balance to around ¥100 billion over several years, based on expectations for growth in Japan's private equity market, including unlisted equities.
He highlighted the appeal of unlisted equities as an asset class that allows the company to focus on risk-adjusted returns, and the company is reportedly planning to increase investment against a backdrop of growth in Japan's private equity market.
