NANO Holdings will fully launch an investment business connecting Japan's outstanding technology with global capital. Following the corporate name change and transfer of the drug discovery business, the company aims to expand globally, with a focus on healthcare.
NANO Holdings changed its corporate name to NANO Holdings effective 11 December 2025 and established a structure under which the drug discovery business was transferred to newly established subsidiary NANO MRNA. The company’s principal business is currently investment focused on the healthcare sector, and it is pursuing group management with the subsidiary responsible for the drug discovery business under its umbrella.
The company states that Japanese technology and drug discovery seeds cannot be fully leveraged through Japan’s capital markets and business development environment alone. Against a backdrop of efforts to attract overseas capital and strengthen the government’s drug discovery capabilities, it views interest among overseas investors in Japanese companies as increasing. Its investment business will develop a model that combines domestic and overseas capital with specialist personnel and networks to support development strategies, business partnerships and stronger governance.
Centered on its first fund, NANO Bridge I, NBI and SBI Shinsei Growth Capital are jointly managing the fund, with the aim of expanding its scale and continuing to launch follow-on funds. The company plans to build a recurring earnings base from gains on portfolio company sales, fund management fees and performance fees.
Because performance fluctuates depending on the progress of individual investments, fund size and the growth of portfolio companies, the company states that it will pursue maximum shareholder value through the medium- to long-term enhancement of corporate value. It also says that, depending on circumstances, it may consider paying a special dividend.
