Menicon Co.,Ltd. has introduced the SDS management platform "Chemican SDS Management" to centralize SDS data across departments and strengthen responses to the latest laws and regulations.
Menicon Co.,Ltd. has introduced Chemican SDS Management at its headquarters, centralizing SDS information previously scattered across departments in a shared organizational database. The system will manage approximately 100 SDSs covering raw materials, auxiliary materials, solvents and other substances across departments, with the aim of enabling immediate access to the information required.
The company identified as issues the practice of managing SDSs on paper within individual departments, as well as duplicated information and missed updates. It will maintain current information by introducing an automatic identification function to prevent failures to update SDSs to their latest versions.
For regulatory compliance, the system will database lists of substances covered by more than 50 current laws and regulations in Japan and overseas, and automatically detect and notify users of the relevant SDSs. The company is moving from reliance on paper to digitization and aims to establish an autonomous management system with a view to deploying it company-wide.
Naoe (根尾) commented that missed receipt of revised editions and delays in responding to legal revisions were issues, and said that the deciding factor was establishing a system that would allow the substances handled to be viewed in a list even when the person in charge changed.
