Immediately after Sukesan Udon announced the change of president on 15 October, it introduced its first-ever limited-edition menu, Napolitan udon, at selected locations. The menu is available at 25 locations in total, including 10 in Kansai and 15 in Kanto, with sales starting on 22 October.
Sukesan Udon, a udon chain originating in Kitakyushu, completed its conversion into a wholly owned subsidiary of Skylark Holdings in April, and Sakita Haruyoshi (崎田 晴義) became president on the same date. The change of president came as a surprise to many long-time fans, prompting interest in maintaining taste and quality at its restaurants.
A news release reported that Sakita (崎田) will leave the presidency on 1 November and become chairman of the board on the same date, while Ito Hideki (伊藤 英記) is scheduled to become the new representative director and president. It explained that the new president has experience working at a restaurant in Kitakyushu.
While the announcement of the change of president prompted widespread relief among fans, the company also announced that its first-ever Napolitan udon would be sold at selected locations for a limited time as a new menu item. Sales will begin on 22 October, with 25 locations in total covered: 10 in the Kansai area and 15 in the Kanto area.
Some fans have pointed to changes in taste following the arrival of the limited-edition menu, and reactions have been mixed, with fans calling for both restaurant expansion and the maintenance of quality.
