Sukesan Udon, which originated in Kitakyushu, is changing presidents. Hideki Ito (伊藤 英記) will become the new president, while current president Haruyoshi Sakita (崎田 晴義) will retire and become chairman on 1 November.
On 15 October, Sukesan Udon announced on its official website that its president would change, with Hideki Ito (伊藤 英記) becoming representative director and president. Haruyoshi Sakita (崎田 晴義) will retire as president on the same date and is scheduled to become chairman of the board on 1 November.
The company became a subsidiary of Skylark Holdings in 2024. Since Sakita (崎田 晴義) became president in April 2024, comments pointing to a change in taste increased, resulting in a change at the top after 7 months. Many messages expressing expectations for the new structure have been posted on social media.
New president Hideki Ito (伊藤 英記) joined the company in 2019 and has held positions including overseeing stores in Kitakyushu. The appointment has prompted discussion of the role of personnel from Sukesan, with reports suggesting that Yuta Yamauchi (山内 裕太), who handled the management turnaround at Tochikuken, advanced reforms at the company after the new president took office.
Sukesan Udon’s signature dish, meat-and-burdock tempura udon, was created in response to customer requests. Reports say efforts to stabilize its taste and improve operations at stores are continuing.
