Chow Sang Sang raised its forecast for net profit from continuing operations to HK$2.1 billion–HK$2.2 billion for the first half of 2026. Its shares opened more than 11% higher at HK$13.4.
Hong Kong jewelry retail giant Chow Sang Sang raised its forecast for profit attributable to shareholders from continuing operations to HK$2.1 billion–HK$2.2 billion for the first half of 2026. Following the announcement, its shares rose more than 11% in morning trading to HK$13.4, with trading value reaching approximately HK$2.7336 million.
The main factors behind the upward revision were improved sales in the retail business and the recognition of unrealized gains from the fair-value measurement of precious-metal lending, an improvement from the unrealized loss recorded in the same period a year earlier. Market participants said the size of the revision may exceed the forecasts of some investors.
In terms of its business mix, the company continues to review its store portfolio in key markets including mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, while increasing the proportion of high-margin products. The unrealized gains from precious-metal lending are non-cash items and do not directly translate into actual cash inflows.
Chow Sang Sang plans to release its interim financial data by the end of August, when the performance of each business segment and the actual scale of the unrealized gains are expected to be examined in greater detail.
