Game Freak has announced its all-new mobile game “Rain, Then Sunshine Girl” (雨のちハレ女, Ame nochi Hareonna). Real-world weather affects every aspect of the game, and the company says it will deliver an experience closely connected to daily life by linking the game to weather forecasts from across Japan. Set in modern-day Japan, the game features the magical girl Hareonna, who turns weather into power to lift people’s spirits, and Kumo-rin, a messenger of the gods who helps her use that power. Omori Shigeru (大森滋) is serving as director and producer, with クロノゲート assisting in development.
Alongside the announcement, the game’s key visual and teaser PV were released, as were its main characters, Hareonna’s Haruto Himawari (晴渡ひまわり) and Kumo-rin’s Arai Pon (洗井ぽん). The development team also provided details on the game’s setting and production background, and introduced the content planned for its appearance at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
The game is scheduled for release on iOS and Android as a free-to-play title with in-app purchases. The release timing has not been announced. The official livestream “Hareonna Club Meeting #1” will be held from 19:00 on 14 September via the Weathernews Studio, with Weathernews supporting the program and cast members participating to introduce the background to the game’s production and its appeal.
Related developments attracting attention include the launch of the official X account, formerly Twitter, the release of teaser footage and official visuals, and event information for an event beginning on 17 September, along with further information to be announced.
