Today, Game Freak announced its all-new mobile game “Rain, Then Sunshine” (「雨のちハレ女」), releasing key artwork and a teaser PV. The game is scheduled for release this winter and may be offered as a free-to-play title.
One of the game’s features is that real-world weather affects scenes within the game, through a system linked to weather forecasts across Japan. Set in modern-day Japan, the story follows the magical girl Hare Onna, who transforms weather into power, and Kumorin, a messenger of the gods, as they work together to brighten up the country.
Official artwork and profiles for Himawari Harewatari and Pon Arai were released as character information, with character design by Kyoko Abe (阿部杏子). The teaser PV also features another Hare Onna and Kumorin pairing.
To mark the announcement, the official livestream “Hare Onna Club Meeting #1” will be broadcast from Weathernews Studio at 19:00 on 14 September. After explaining the game’s development background and setting, the program will introduce its voice cast. Details of the game’s appearance at Tokyo Game Show 2026 will also be released at a later date.
