Tesla has begun selling its next-generation Powerwall 3 home battery in Japan. The system has evolved into a hybrid model that stores solar-generated electricity more efficiently, incorporates a Home energy management system backed by installations worldwide, and is designed to work with the company’s broader ecosystem.
Powerwall 3 increases maximum output to 9.69 kW and offers improved weather resistance, including added water-ingress resistance. It is designed for installation in combination with solar power generation and battery storage.
For the Japanese market, the product has obtained certifications including JIS, JC Star and ECHONET Lite, and has completed equipment registration with the Environment Innovation Initiative. Tokyo provides subsidies of up to ¥1.2 million, and installation is expected to begin around September–October 2026.
