NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS and TEPCO Power Grid announced plans to roll out a “Container Data Center Park” comprising multiple liquid-cooled, containerized data centers compatible with GPU servers. The first facility will be installed in Ota Ward, Tokyo, and will use liquid cooling for the latest-generation GPU servers.
NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS, Inc. and TEPCO Power Grid, Inc. announced that they will begin developing containerized data centers to meet data center demand in the Tokyo metropolitan area, against a backdrop of growing generative AI demand and digitalization. The companies plan to combine their advanced network infrastructure, expertise in operating liquid-cooled data centers and stable electricity supply to roll out “Container Data Center Parks” in urban areas. These parks will comprise multiple liquid-cooled, containerized data centers that can support GPU servers and be installed and operated as a group.
As the first project, the companies will install a containerized data center in Ota Ward, Tokyo, which can be built in a short period, and use it to roll out the Container Data Center Park. The data center will use a liquid-cooling system capable of cooling the latest-generation GPU servers and is positioned as a hub forming part of a next-generation ICT platform designed for the AI era.
