Tohoku Electric Power held the opening ceremony for the Miyagi AI Data Center, a newly built container-based data center in Shichigahama Town, Miyagi Prefecture, and began offering housing services for next-generation GPU servers.
Tohoku Electric Power held the opening ceremony on 31 July for the newly built container-based Miyagi AI Data Center. The facility was developed under a memorandum of understanding signed by the company and ゲットワークス, and is now commencing data center operations.
The Miyagi AI Data Center was established on unused land in Shichigahama Town, Miyagi District, Miyagi Prefecture, and provides housing services designed for GPU servers. It is equipped with power supply and high-efficiency cooling systems to ensure the stable operation of high-performance GPUs.
The center is intended to provide a stable, low-latency communications environment for large-scale AI workloads, including inference processing and distributed computing. It is also expected to support the rapid and stable development of generative AI and AI development platforms.
Compared with conventional data centers, it enables facilities to be built and brought into operation in a shorter timeframe, and offers the scalability to accommodate future GPU performance upgrades and additional servers.
