Konoike Transport will establish and begin operating an end-to-end program in India’s Manipur state covering the recruitment through hiring of specified skilled foreign workers as truck drivers. As the first such initiative by a Japanese company, it integrates talent training and acceptance between India and Japan, with the aim of linking education and employment through cooperation with local institutions.
Konoike Transport announced that it has established and will begin operating an end-to-end program in Manipur state in northeastern India covering the recruitment, training, hiring and acceptance of candidates for specified skilled foreign workers as truck drivers. The initiative is positioned as the first step toward an India-Japan talent circulation ecosystem that addresses labor shortages in Japan while creating employment opportunities for young people in India.
To implement the program, Konoike India Pvt. Ltd. (KIPL, based in India), NSDC International (NSDCI, a wholly owned subsidiary of NSDC), and IDTRC Manipur, a driving school in Manipur state, have entered into business partnerships.
The initiative establishes a framework for the integrated recruitment, training and hiring of specified skilled foreign workers between India and Japan. It is regarded as notable because a Japanese company has built an integrated program of this kind for the first time.
The initiative is positioned as a new framework for simultaneously creating local employment through Japanese companies and easing labor shortages in Japan. Attention will focus on its specific operating performance going forward and the depth of its cooperation with educational institutions.
