Konoike Transport announced that it would establish a new scheme in Manipur, northeastern India, to operate driver training between Japan and India as an integrated process. Candidates will be recruited and trained locally, with plans to receive them at bases in Japan and eventually introduce them to employers.
KIPL, the Konoike group's India business headquarters, will establish the local training structure through a business partnership with NSDC and IDTRC Manipur. The trained personnel are planned to be received in Japan under the Specified Skilled Worker (i) status.
Recruitment in India is scheduled to begin in October 2026, with training starting in January 2027. The first cohort is scheduled to enter Japan in February 2028 and work for up to 5 years, with a target of dispatching approximately 15 people every 6 months. The group also plans to introduce personnel to group companies and customers in the future.
