Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reports that a premium version of HomeView (J595), whose screen could rotate 360 degrees on a robotic arm, may launch in 2027 or 2028. The current HomeView, meanwhile, tilts up and down but does not rotate from side to side, limiting how its orientation can be adjusted on a desk.
Regarding the current HomeView, announced on 13 October, he reports that Apple is preparing a premium model that rotates the screen using a robotic arm. The new model is expected to feature a screen of approximately 9 inches, with its key function being the ability to automatically turn toward the person speaking. The screen is also said to rotate 360 degrees.
Bloomberg, the source of the report, places the launch of the J595-centered concept in 2027 or 2028. The model is expected to be positioned separately from the current model, which is priced in the $300 range. Details such as the price and official name remain undecided. Possible names including “HomeView Max,” “HomeView Ultra” and “HomeView 360” have been mentioned, but none has been confirmed.
The current HomeView does not rotate from side to side and is designed only to tilt on a hinge to match the height of the table. Although it supports FaceTime’s Center Stage feature, the screen itself does not turn toward the viewer, so the device must be moved to change its orientation. The launch timing, price and language support for Japan have not been disclosed, and some observers believe that Japanese-language Siri support is likely to be introduced first.
Reactions overseas include comments that users would be sharing a single stationary device, as well as doubts about the value of the robotic functionality. Others see it as useful for applications centered around the home. In Japan, support for Japanese-language Siri on the current HomeView may arrive first, leaving the specific timing of J595 uncertain until then.
