Beyond the Expo year, J. FRONT RETAILING reported business profit of ¥26.5 billion for the March–August 2026 period. Based on this, it raised its full-year business profit forecast for the fiscal year ending February 2027 to ¥53.5 billion and expects a record high.
J. FRONT RETAILING's consolidated results for the March–August 2026 period under IFRS were total gross sales of ¥638.2 billion, revenue of ¥213.8 billion, business profit of ¥26.5 billion and net income of ¥17.3 billion. Gross sales increased 2.5% year on year, revenue decreased 2.8%, business profit decreased 5.6% and net income decreased 5.3%.
Although earnings were affected by the reduction in selling space following the major renovation of Daimaru Umeda and the reaction to sales related to the Osaka-Kansai Expo in the previous year, profit exceeded the forecast announced in April, supported by strong department-store personal shopping and inbound tourism, as well as PARCO's performance.
As a result, the company raised its business profit forecast for the fiscal year ending February 2027 from the previous ¥52.0 billion to ¥53.5 billion, which is expected to be a record high on a full-year basis.
More than 40% of sales at Shibuya PARCO are analysed as being attributable to inbound tourism.
