Doosan will build a dedicated production site in Gimje for copper-clad laminate (CCL) used in optical modules. The investment will total ₩399.2 billion, with operations scheduled to begin in the second half of 2028.
On the 27th, Doosan announced plans to establish a dedicated production line in Gimje for CCL used in optical modules. Total investment is expected to reach ₩399.2 billion (approximately ¥47 billion), and total floor area will be approximately 33,057 square metres. The company will newly hire approximately 200 workers for the site.
The new facility will be built in the Gimje Jipyeongseon General Industrial Complex, adjacent to the FCCL plant completed in September 2024. The production line is scheduled to begin operations in stages from the second half of 2028.
The investment forms part of the company’s total expansion plan for 2026–2028, which will amount to ₩968.4 billion, including approximately ₩421.0 billion in domestic investment and approximately ₩547.4 billion overseas. The overseas investment will be carried out through Doosan Electro-Materials (Changshu), and the company plans to increase the subsidiary’s capital by approximately ₩182.4 billion.
The Gimje plant is expected to become an integrated site capable of producing both FCCL and CCL for optical modules, against a backdrop of growing demand for optical modules as AI data centres become more widespread. Doosan has indicated a policy of strengthening its supply framework for high-performance CCL for high-speed optical modules rated at 800G or higher.
The relationship with Gimje dates back to 2022. After signing its first investment agreement with the city, Doosan completed the FCCL plant in 2024. The company plans to strengthen its supply chain by diversifying production sites in South Korea and overseas.
