日本パレットレンタル (JPR) announced that annual usage of standard pallets for inter-company relays reached approximately 237 million pallets as of 2025, up approximately 14% from 2022. The company said it disclosed the data in response to the revised Logistics Efficiency Act and that the upward trend was still continuing as of September 2026.
JPR announced that the use of rental pallets premised on inter-company relays had expanded since 2022, when logistics challenges were identified, reaching approximately 237 million pallets in total in 2025. The data was disclosed against the backdrop of the 30 October deadline for specified shippers to submit medium- to long-term plans.
Focusing on T11-standard pallets, JPR holds approximately 13.13 million pallets and supplies approximately 54.36 million pallets to companies each year. Each pallet is relayed between companies, resulting in approximately 4 circulation cycles per year.
Relay opportunities increased by approximately 14% from 2022 to 2025, with supply and circulation both growing. Measurements also indicate that 7.5 pallet relays take place per second, suggesting that the use of transport-oriented rental pallets is contributing to greater efficiency.
Of approximately 390,000 vehicle trips annually supporting pallet circulation, approximately 290,000 are made to jointly collect empty pallets and balance regional inventory imbalances. The government's Comprehensive Logistics Policy Framework also includes the promotion of standard-specification pallets and logistics DX.
