Shimano's game vest VF-278Z for lure fishing was launched in September 2026. A new buoyancy material achieves a weight reduction of more than 10% versus the previous model, while the waist support belt distributes the weight to the waist.
Shimano is rolling out the Game Vest [VF-278Z] for lure fishing in earnest. One of its key features is the use of a new buoyancy material, which achieves a weight reduction of more than 10% compared with the previous model. It is also equipped with a waist support belt designed to reduce the burden on the shoulders during extended fishing trips.
The product complies with the L2 standard of the Japan Craft Inspection and Registration Association, with a design that supports its safety. The shoulder straps use a wide construction and highly breathable mesh material, combining improved wearing comfort with reduced shoulder strain. Its reference weight is 1,137 g, and its ability to support mobility when carried is emphasised.
For storage, the spacious design allows two standard lure cases to fit in each of the main pockets. The left side has a 600 ml-compatible 2-way plastic-bottle holder, the right side has a pliers holder, and the back has a large back pocket, D-rings and other functional features. A mobile pouch for a smartphone is also included as standard, enhancing its practicality in the field.
