Kewpie announced that it will raise prices on a total of 224 household seasonings, pasta sauces and other products from shipments on 1 November. The suggested retail price of its flagship Kewpie Mayonnaise (450g) is expected to rise from around ¥557 to ¥611, with higher raw material, packaging material and energy costs cited as the background to the increase.
The increases are expected to range from approximately 3% to 25%, depending on the product, with the overall range also approximately 3–25%. In this announcement, Kewpie notified customers of price revisions across its household seasonings, and information on increases for other products is expected to be shared separately.
On the same day, Ajinomoto announced that it will raise shipment prices for a total of 37 household products, including the umami seasoning Ajinomoto and seasoned salt Ajishio, from deliveries on 1 December. The increases are expected to be approximately 5% to 15%, marking the first price increase in 20 years. The increase is reported to come after the previous one in January 2023.
