The winners of the 2026 Good Design Award have been announced, with 4 Web-related entries selected, including a PR project documenting the production process and initiatives addressing accessibility. A project documenting the production of Sakuma Nobuyuki’s (佐久間宣行) official website drew particular attention.
The Japan Institute of Design Promotion, a public interest incorporated foundation, announced the winners of the 2026 Good Design Award on 15 October. In the Web-related category, PR projects introducing the production process were eligible for awards alongside official websites and services.
One of the winning entries was the PR project “Sakuma-san, Please Let Us Build Your Website,” which documented the production process on a YouTube program and other platforms. It was recognized for presenting the designer’s thinking and trial-and-error process as entertainment. “Yasashii Asahi Shimbun” was recognized for its accessibility design, including its use of plain Japanese, furigana and read-aloud support.
“Color Me Shop byGMO Pepabo” was recognized for a system that allows users to adopt AI in stages, from work assistance to delegating tasks. The “Tokyu and Tokyu Railways Official Website” was recognized for providing railway and surrounding-area information across its site and for enabling users to find the information they need by purpose.
The official page includes the full list of winning works. The Web Designing editorial department noted that the list offers many practically useful perspectives, including information architecture, accessibility and PR that makes use of the production process.
