FURUYA METAL has completed the New Chitose Plant in Chitose, Hokkaido, investing approximately ¥4.5 billion in total to double production capacity from previous levels. Operations are scheduled to begin in spring 2027, with the plant manufacturing, processing and repairing quartz glass products for semiconductor applications, primarily quartz protection tubes.
FURUYA METAL held a completion ceremony for the New Chitose Plant on 14 September, having invested approximately ¥4.5 billion in total in its construction. The new plant is located at 2-1-1 Ryutsu, Chitose, Hokkaido, within the Chitose Distribution and Logistics Park. It has a site area of approximately 15,061.16 m² and a total floor area of approximately 6,413.45 m². Production capacity is expected to expand to approximately twice its previous level as a result. The company will also strengthen its supply network for global customers by leveraging its logistics access, with Chitose Airport approximately 7 minutes away by car.
The company’s main businesses are the manufacture, processing and repair of quartz glass products, centered on high-purity, high-precision quartz protection tubes for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, as well as the development of related thermal management equipment. At the New Chitose Plant, it aims to ensure a stable supply of components used in wafer manufacturing processes, including temperature-control components for diffusion furnaces.
The company has provided detailed information on the New Chitose Plant, including its name, location, site and total floor areas, investment scale and schedule. Since entering Hokkaido in 2010, it has supported semiconductor manufacturing as a specialist quartz-processing site. Following completion, operations are scheduled to begin in autumn 2026, with commercial production scheduled to start in spring 2027.
