Apple has revamped its smart home lineup and unveiled the Apple HomeView, a smart home hub with a display. The timing of its launch in Japan remains undecided.
Apple has refreshed its smart home lineup and announced the Apple HomeView, a display-equipped hub featuring the Siri AI voice assistant. Alongside it, the HomePod mini smart speaker and Apple TV 4K are also scheduled to launch in Japan.
HomeView features a 7-inch display and a miniature iMac-style design connected to a dome-shaped base. A wall mount will also be available. It comes in 4 colors: silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray, and is priced at $299. It will launch on 13 November in the United States and other English-speaking countries.
Its main features include Siri AI support and automatic recognition of up to 6 people, allowing it to display individual home screens as well as family calendars, messages, and Apple Music information. When paired with an Apple Intelligence-compatible device, it can also continue conversations using the conversation history.
The device includes a wide-angle camera and Center Stage, supporting FaceTime video calls, message notifications through its microphone, and notification integration with other HomeView and HomePod devices, as well as iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch devices.
It also integrates with smart cameras, thermometers, and smart locks from LG and Schneider, and includes visitor notifications, on-screen alerts, and smoke and carbon monoxide detection. The news release contains no mention of a launch in Japan.
