Apple is reportedly set to announce the “HomePad,” a smart home hub with a display, on 13 October. It is said to feature an approximately 6-inch square screen and capabilities including identifying family members by face and voice.
Based on a Bloomberg report, Apple is reportedly expected to announce a smart home hub with a display on 13 October. The device is said to feature a 6-inch-class screen, with 2 installation options under consideration: a desktop model and a wall-mounted model.
The product is reportedly called “HomePad,” with the development code J490. It has reportedly been referred to overseas as “HomePad” and by other names. It is also said to identify family members by face and voice, display personal contacts and calendars, and include a “visitor mode” that hides personal information when guests are present.
The price is estimated at approximately $350 by overseas media, and there is also information that a higher-end model with a 9-inch screen is in development. New models of the HomePod mini and Apple TV are also reportedly expected to be introduced on the same day as the announcement.
The report originated with Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, and Reuters has reported similar details. Apple has not made an official announcement at this time.
