Sakuma Yasuro (佐久間康郎), representative of リブラ・インベストメンツ, forecasts that the Nikkei Average will reach ¥65,000 at the end of 2026. The current market trend and its background are presented as his view.
The Nikkei Average has been unable to recover the 72,366 yen level reached in June, and has remained range-bound. We asked Sakuma Yasuro (佐久間康郎), representative of リブラ・インベストメンツ, about his outlook for stock prices and the points to watch. While the Nikkei Average remains elevated at present, attention is focused on its future direction.
Sakuma said that he expects the Nikkei Average to be unable to set a new record high through around March 2027, and expressed the view that AI-related stocks, which have driven the market, have limited room to rise. Although corporate earnings and operating profit margins are expected to continue improving, he took a cautious view of further upside momentum.
Against this backdrop, he indicated an outlook for the Nikkei Average to reach ¥65,000 at the end of 2026. Going forward, movements in AI-related stocks and trends in corporate earnings could affect the direction of the market as a whole.
