OMRON Healthcare has established its first local production facility in Chennai, India, and begun full-scale mass production of blood pressure monitors. The facility will contribute to the wider adoption of home blood pressure measurement and the promotion of Make in India.
OMRON Healthcare Co., Ltd. established a local plant in Chennai to produce blood pressure monitors for the Indian market and began full-scale operations today. By making its local mass-production system public, the company aims to stabilize product supplies. Depending on circumstances, it also plans to contribute to the local community by using locally sourced materials and creating jobs.
The plant has introduced production technology and quality-control expertise developed globally and established a system to ensure medical-grade quality. It plans to operate 5 production lines and mass-produce a broad lineup of home blood pressure monitors, including initial models such as easy-to-use standard models, models equipped with a function that alerts users to changes in blood pressure readings, and models with connectivity to health-management apps.
The company has stated a policy of expanding production capacity 10-fold by 2028 and is considering expanding supplies not only to the Indian market but also to global markets. Expanding production of nebulizers for asthma is also under consideration.
Against a backdrop of strong economic growth and rising healthcare-management needs, India is strengthening local production alongside the promotion of Make in India. The company aims to support the early detection and prevention of cardiovascular disease through a stable supply of blood pressure monitors.
