Tateishi Ayumu (岡田歩), president of OMRON Healthcare, said the company plans to increase annual production capacity for home blood pressure monitors approximately 10-fold to 3 million units over the next year at its first manufacturing facility in India, which has begun full-scale operations in Chennai, southern India.
Regarding the company's local blood pressure monitor plant that began operations in Chennai, Tateishi Ayumu (岡田歩), president of OMRON Healthcare, disclosed plans to expand annual production capacity to approximately 3 million units over the next year. Shipments currently focus on the Indian market, and the company also aims to expand local sourcing in the future.
Most components are imported from Vietnam, but the company plans to promote local sourcing in the future and is also considering exports overseas through the Port of Chennai. Since the establishment of its Indian sales company in 2024, the company has held approximately 40% of India's blood pressure monitor market and leads the market.
India has a population of more than approximately 1.4 billion and a large number of people affected by hypertension. Tateishi said the company's products have latent demand. The plant began operations last November, and the company plans to localize component procurement and expand exports over the medium to long term.
