AEON has introduced AI-equipped robots called “physical AI” at a logistics center and indicated plans to raise the automation rate for shipping operations to approximately 80% of the previous level. The AI determines the size and location of packages and decides the loading sequence, while cameras and sensors support the work.
Major retailer AEON has introduced AI-equipped robots called “physical AI” at a logistics center. The aim is to advance the automation of shipping operations to stores and improve operational efficiency.
Physical AI determines the loading sequence based on package size, weight and placement information, while AI controls and advances the handling operations. When packages are loaded onto carts, cameras and sensors read the package information and provide instructions for the appropriate movements.
AEON says the introduction has enabled approximately 80% of operations to be automated compared with its existing logistics centers, and has indicated plans to expand the system to other logistics centers in the future.
