The Tobu-Nerima Doronko Blog reports that children made pizzas using summer vegetables, enjoying the freedom to arrange the toppings and create pizzas of their own.
At the メリー★ポピンズ 東武練馬ルーム, the children made pizzas using summer vegetables as a food education activity. Using zucchini, eggplant and other vegetables, the children freely arranged the toppings and enjoyed making their pizzas.
The children had been told the previous day that they would be making pizzas. When they arrived in the morning, they eagerly looked forward to the activity, saying things like, “We’re making pizza today, right?” and “I want to make one soon!”
The caregivers gave each child one gyoza wrapper. The children were seen feeling the texture of the wrappers and observing their shape. Children aged 0–2 also took part in the activity together with their caregivers.
The children spread ketchup on the wrappers, chose their favourite vegetables and added the toppings, putting their own ideas into their pizzas. The pizzas were baked on a hot plate. When they were finished, everyone cheered, and the children who had taken part showed an eagerness to try them.
