In September, Toyosu Room reported on its autumn activities, including a traffic safety class, community interaction aboard a yakatabune, food education through udon making, and outdoor play making use of favorable weather.
As part of the September activities, a traffic safety class was held in conjunction with an outing. With explanations from their caregivers, the children practiced crossing a crosswalk set up indoors to learn how to cross and how to judge traffic-signal timing.
As part of community interaction, the children boarded a yakatabune with the cooperation of its operator. They showed anticipation and nervousness even before boarding, and everyone enjoyed a snack in an unfamiliar environment.
The September food-education program involved making udon. The children began by kneading the flour, then stepped on the dough, rolled it out with a rolling pin and cut it with a kitchen knife before enjoying the finished udon as a snack. The pickled plums had been prepared during the previous month's food-education program and were added to the udon broth.
For outdoor play, the children went to a park on sunny days despite the frequent rain and were often seen smiling as they played in puddles. The facility plans to continue creating an environment that nurtures curiosity and a spirit of inquiry.
