The TSE Growth Market edged lower for a second straight session, narrowing its decline in the afternoon as selling ran its course compared with the morning. Among major stocks, some of the largest by market capitalisation rose, while declining stocks were also conspicuous.
The TSE Growth Market showed a modest move from the previous day, with the TSE Growth Market Index down 0.59 points at 959.94. Trading volume was 527.29 million shares and trading value was ¥232.3 billion. The Growth Market had 386 declining stocks, 164 advancing stocks and 35 unchanged stocks. AI-related and semiconductor stocks remained weak in response to the US market, and a risk-averse mood spread.
Selling prevailed in the morning, but the market resisted further declines in the afternoon, with the Growth Market Core Index at one point up 0.23%. Although the previous day’s Dow was modestly higher, the Nasdaq Composite fell sharply, and the impact of semiconductor-related stocks spread to the Japanese market. There had been expectations of funds flowing into emerging markets, but higher oil prices made investor sentiment cautious.
Among individual stocks, GRCS, デジタリフト, アクリート and イノバセル declined. Among the largest by market capitalisation, 技術承継機構 and Syns fell. Advancing stocks included ソシャルワイヤ, データセク, ジィ・シィ企画, サークレイス and フツパー. Other developments included Fujitsu being selected as a co-creation partner for a research project commissioned by the Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency, a Singapore investment fund announcing a tender offer, the launch of a security service and the adoption of a rare-resource recovery project. These helped support the overall market while individual-stock developments continued to emerge.
As for the overall market, the sense that selling had run its course following the morning decline strengthened in the afternoon. In line with the Nikkei Average, the Growth Index did not collapse and at times turned modestly higher. The advancing and declining stocks included a mix of emerging and growth names such as データセク, リネットJG, ジィ・シィ企画 and サークレイス.
