OMRON and NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS announced that they would collaborate to protect manufacturing sites from cyberattacks that could disrupt the stable operation of factories. The initiative is driven by the need to ensure the security of control equipment supporting factory automation.
The companies plan to provide control equipment with security functions and build a system that enables rapid recovery when an abnormal situation occurs. Technically, the system will combine OMRON's control equipment expertise with DOCOMO BUSINESS's security technology.
Hioka Takehiko (日岡威彦), head of OMRON's Systems Business Division, said the companies aim to provide a security foundation that does not impede advances in manufacturing, while Okuda Tomoyuki (奥田智行), an executive officer at DOCOMO BUSINESS, emphasized the value of working with OMRON, which understands conditions at manufacturing sites.
