NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS and IBM Japan announced a collaboration to develop safeguards for autonomous AI agents. Specific services are expected to launch as early as fiscal 2026.
NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS and IBM Japan announced a collaboration to jointly establish safeguards for AI agents that perform tasks autonomously on behalf of people. The 2 companies will establish guardrails to prevent leaks of confidential information and advance practical implementation.
The companies noted that unless the scope and purpose of AI agent use are clearly defined in advance, problems such as misuse of data access and a lack of compliance with laws and regulations could arise. In response, they are developing a safety feature that can halt AI outputs.
The collaboration is based on DOCOMO BUSINESS's practical experience gained through using AI for large enterprises and IBM Japan's ability to address regulations in countries around the world and develop systems. By establishing safeguards, the 2 companies aim to make it easier to use AI agents for operations involving confidential information.
